ASAPS/ASERF Annual Meeting Scientific Program

The deadline for abstract submissions is: Tuesday, December 1, 2009 (Midnight, Pacific).

On behalf of the Program Committee, we invite you to submit an abstract for the 2010 Aesthetic Meeting sponsored by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the Aesthetic Surgery Education & Research Foundation, to be held in Washington DC - April 22 - 27. The Specialty depends on the shared experience of practicing plastic surgeons, like yourselves to enhance its Scientific Program.

  • Abstracts will be grouped by topic, to include face, breast, body contouring, rhinoplasty, International Hot Topics, and miscellaneous topics. You may submit as many abstracts as you like, however, each presenter will be limited to only one presentation per topic. Each abstract must be a completed study, following the stated outline, and as extensive as possible to permit accurate review. Incomplete abstracts cannot be evaluated and therefore, cannot be accepted.

  • Abstracts must be original presentations and cannot have been presented at a previous national plastic surgery meeting. You must note if your presentation, or portions of it, has been previously published or presented elsewhere.

  • International Participants - International papers will be considered for the Scientific Program and for the International Hot Topics Course (April 23). We encourage our international colleagues to submit abstracts and be a part of the Aesthetic Meeting 2010. All Scientific Program International presenters will be eligible for nomination for the Raymond Vilain Award. This award is presented for an outstanding international scientific presentation at the Aesthetic meeting.

  • Research and Innovative Technology Luncheon (April 24) – Do you have an interesting and/or innovative research project? We invite you to submit an abstract for possible presentation at the Research and Innovative Technology Luncheon. Presentation format is 5 minutes for this event.

  • All abstracts MUST be submitted on-line; no e-mail, fax or paper submissions will be accepted. Please take time to complete and submit the abstract electronically.

  • All correspondence will be conducted via e-mail. Your e-mail address is required for abstract submission. If you change your e-mail address, it is your responsibility to inform us at debi@surgery.org.

  • Abstracts for the 2010 Program will be presented in the following formats:
       • Scientific Papers (6 minutes)
       • Scientific E-Posters
         - A plaque is presented to the author of the Best Scientific E-Poster and the Best Scientific E-Poster by a Resident.
         - E-Poster presentations are limited to 20 Power Point Slides
         - must be submitted by a physician, no company produced e-posters will be accepted.

  • The abstract must be 800 words or less, utilizing the following mandatory outline:
         • Goals/Purpose
         • Methods/Technique
         • Results/Complications
         • Conclusion

NOTE: If your abstract is accepted for presentation at The Aesthetic Meeting and you seek publication of your paper, you are required to submit your original manuscript to Aesthetic Surgery Journal, which will have the right of first refusal for publication. Please note that by agreeing to present your paper at The Aesthetic Meeting, you are also agreeing that you will not submit the paper to any other publication/journal unless Aesthetic Surgery Journal declines to publish it.

Summary of Guidelines

  • If you wish to include an image with your abstract, you must upload your text as an HTML file (in MSWord File > Save as > Save as Web Page, Filtered (*.htm; *.html)). If you wish to include an image with your abstract, it must end with a .gif, .png or .jpg file extension. Permission for the use of patient photographs is the responsibility of the author.

  • All submissions must be submitted electronically.
  • The abstract text should not exceed 800 words.
