2011 ASAPS/ASERF Residents & Fellows Forum

The deadline for abstract submissions is: Friday, February 4, 2011 (Midnight, Pacific).

The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) and the Aesthetic Surgery Education & Research Foundation (ASERF) are pleased to present the 2011 Residents & Fellows Forum to be held Saturday, May 7 from 8:00am - 2:00pm at the e Boston Convention and Exposition Center at the beginning of The Aesthetic Meeting 2011. The Co-Chairs of the Residents & Fellows Forum are Kiya Movassaghi, MD and M. Mark Mofid, MD. The Forum is open to all plastic surgeons in training, including junior and senior residents, and fellows. The focus of the Residents & Fellows Forum is surgical techniques and aesthetic practice management geared to the interest and needs of plastic surgeons in training. Topics include practice management and types, legal issues, marketing, advertising, and ethics. There will also be paper presentations conducted by twenty selected residents and fellows. Gaspar W. Anastasi Awards will be given to the two best paper presentations and the winners will have the opportunity to present their paper to the full Scientific Session of the ASAPS/ASERF Annual Meeting.

Type of Presentation: All submissions will be a Scientific Paper format with a five (5) minute time limit. Points will be deducted from total score if presentation exceeds time limit. (One [1] additional minute will be provided for discussion.)

Summary of Guidelines

Criteria for abstract submission: (Only submissions meeting the following criteria will be considered)

  • Final Data must be submitted in the abstract.
  • Pre-operative and post-operative photographs must be submitted to allow evaluation of surgical techniques.
  • If you wish to include an image with your abstract, you must upload your text as an HTML file (in MSWord File > Save as > Save as Web Page, Filtered (*.htm; *.html)). If you wish to include an image with your abstract, it must end with a .gif, .png or .jpg file extension. Permission for the use of patient photographs is the responsibility of the author.
  • Any author's financial support or proprietary interest in a product or technique must be clearly disclosed in the abstract and in the presentation.
  • All media releases related to the presentation topic must be coordinated through the ASAPS Communications Office.
  • All experimental studies have been reviewed and approved by the appropriate review board.
  • All pre- and post-operative patient representations are not computer altered or retouched.
  • All submissions must confirm to the designated outline (refer to form) and must be submitted electronically.
  • The abstract should be no more than 300 words and, utilizing the following mandatory outline:

       •Limited to 10 abstract images
  • Abstract must be complete, supported by photodocumentation. Works in progress will not be considered.
  • Paper presentation must be made by a Resident currently participating in an approved Plastic Surgery Residency Program or by a Fellow in a Clinical Plastic Surgery Program. Written verification of participation from the Chief of Service must be submitted with abstract submission and sent via email to Marissa Simpson at Marissa@surgery.org or faxed to (562) 799-1098.

NOTE: All abstracts MUST be submitted electronically.
