Goals/Purpose:

There is no practical method for estimation of be taken out  tissue amount in reduction mamoplasty operations. The purpose of this study, is body mass index and age changings can influence the removeable tissue amount and predictability of tissue quantity per centimeters from distance  sternal notch to nipple, before operations

Methods/Technique:

202 reduction mamoplasty material companion to 101 patient who were operated amongst 05/2005 to 07/2008 by same surgeon incorporate  in  study.Patients separated 2 different group. 1.group separate according to BMI ( 18 – 24.99 normal, 25 – 29.99 overweight, 30 – 39.99 obese and  ≥ 40 morbid obese ) and  2.group separate according to age ( 15 – 24, 25 – 34, 35 – 44 and  ≥ 45 ).A mean weight determined value of cm/gr considering to distance between nipple to sternal notch each removed  material amount.Statistical analysis and changings evaluated  for  mean weight variability in these groups

Results/Complications:

As a result of average measurements of 202 reduction mamoplasty material;In the 15-24 year age group 102 ±15 gr/cm removed tissue amount, 25-34 year age group 88 ± 14 gr/cm, 35-44 year age group 94 ± 16 gr/cm, up to 45 year age 108 ± 13 gr/cm stated respectively. At the same time average measurements ın the normal BMI group 90 ± 14gr/cm, overweight BMI group 95 ± 14gr/cm, obese BMI group 114 ±16 gr/cm, morbid obese group 127 ± 11 gr/cm stated respectively

Conclusion:

Statistical analysis point out  removed tissue amount per cm increase when BMI value increase significantly and so on as removed tissue amount per cm increase when age group increase significantly. The light of these findings we may estimate the approximative intended removable tissue amount whereby the simple table 1-2 before reduction mamoplasty operations and give additional information to our patients
