Title: Posterior wedge resection: a more aesthetic labiaplasty

Goals/Purpose: Labia minora reduction surgery is gaining popularity.  Several techniques have previously been described with satisfactory results. While functional goals and appearance of skin excess reduction have been emphasized, our objective is to better define an anatomic approach for superior aesthetic outcome.

Methods/Technique: 30 patients between the ages of 18-55 underwent labia minora reduction with a posterior wedge technique.  Pre-operative and post-operative photos were obtained for analysis.  One patient suffered a post-operative hematoma without any negative consequence.

Results/Complications: With posterior wedge resection, labiaplasty was achieved in all patients.  Post-operative photos confirm pigment consistency of the labia minora, concealed scars, symmetry, and contour regularity.

Conclusion: Posterior wedge excision is feasible and consistently yields pigment consistency, symmetry, and contour regularities as aesthetic objectives in labiaplasty.
