Goals/Purpose: Breast tissue has different shape, composition, density, projection, position and shape among population. In literature, there are many studies that discuss the aesthetic shape or the anthropometry of breast tissue. But there is not much study, which tries to find out the aesthetic perception of population. In this study we would like to find out the Turkish people’s aesthetic perception of the breast.

Methods/Technique: This study was performed through a web site (www.breastsurvey.net). Nine demographic questions were asked to the participants (age, gender, education, monthly income, profession, marital status, number of children, city and country). Then the participants were asked to choose one from the twenty draw-arts, which represents AA to D cup size (AA,A,B,C,D) and 38 to 44mm (38-40-42-44) areola. Breast sizes are calculated and drawn according to the EN13402 European Union Standard. Statistical analysis was done by chi-square test.

Results/Complications: 337 people have attended to our survey. 184 of them were female and 153 of them were male. D cup size was mostly preferred with a percentage of 39% among females. Similarly, D cup size was mostly preferred among male participants with a percentage of 72%. D cup size’s popularity did not change in every sub-group (age, gender, education, monthly income, profession, marital status, number of children, city and country). Although the most popular cup size among males and females was the D, we found statistically significant difference between males and females (p<0.05) regarding cup size . On the other hand there was no statistically significant difference between males and females regarding areola size (p>0.05)

Conclusion: We conclude that, if the breast shape is beautiful, big cup size like ‘D’ is preferred. In other words, the bigger is the better, in case it is beautiful. (The web site will be active till the meeting in order to increase sampling.)
