The Modern Necklift - More Than Just a Platysmaplasty

Goals/Purpose: The purpose is to present additional "deep neck lift" techniques that help improve the cervical-mental angle and sculpt the neck to get the best possible results in neck rejuvenation.

Methods/Technique: Multiple techniques will be demonstrated, including removal of the submandibular gland, anterior digastric muscle resection & plication, hyoid bone elevation, medial and lateral platsyma plication, platsyma wedge resection with posterior fascia release.

Results/Complications: Over 100 consecutive neck lifts were performed by the author alone using a combination of some or all of these techniques to get superior neck results and aesthetics.

Conclusion: Platysmaplasty with some fat & skin removal are inadequate in producing superior results in neck rejuvenation. Deep neck lift techniques, addressing multiple structures are necessary to achieve the modern, sculpted neck that produces a best aesthetic outcome for our patients.
