Goals/Purpose:

Recurrent subareolar abscessus is an uncommon benign disease of the breast caused by periductal mastitis with altered etiology. Radical surgical procedure is necessary for cure instead of inadequate courses of antibiotics or incisions.

Methods/Technique:

: A 36 year old women, who succesfully underwent this procedure, is presented. We used a lateral pectoral muscle-sling after radical ductectomy and central mamillectomy. The muscle-sling was sutured to the posterior part of the areola. Six weeks later the muscle-sling was used for the remodelling of the retracted nipple as double subdermal mini-muscle flap.

Results/Complications:

The use of pectoral muscle-sling flap can be an alternative technique for treating recurrent subareolar abscess refracter to multiple standard surgical treatment. It can be also used for the reconstruction of the nipple with desepithelized double musculo-cutaneous mini-flap.

Conclusion: A succesfull treatment of recurrent subareolar abscess is presented with benefit for aesthetic outcome.
